The 8th Annual 2021 Twisted Pretzel Tour will take place in Germantown and Farmersville, Ohio, on Saturday, September 25, 2021 and planning is well underway. While last year many of our lives were impacted by Covid-19 in one way or another, we came to the decision and held the event for 2020 virtually. For 2021 we intend to hold the tour in person as we have in previous years. Modification to the routes due to construction or to ensure safety and enjoyment for all tour riders is always a possibility so be sure to check back for updated route maps!
The Twisted Pretzel Tour is an all-ages, family friendly bike ride through scenic Germantown and Farmersville and the surrounding countryside. Whatever flavor of person-powered pedal-pusher you prefer is welcome on the Tour: unicycle, bicycle, tricycle, quadcycle, tandem, come-along, BMX or hybrid. Have a kid-carrier? Prefer a Pederson? Built your own penny-farthing? All are welcome to join the fun!
Four routes (8 mi, 21 mi, 34 mi, 47 mi) provide options for all ages and skills. Two breaks (1 for the shortest route) offer warm pretzels and toppings along with standard ride fare such as yogurt, fruit and water. With the historic Bow Span-constructed Germantown Covered Bridge near the beginning of the Tour, the routes are flat to gently rolling with the longer routes traveling over the scenic Germantown dam (and down, not up, the dam hill).
The ride is held in conjunction with the Germantown Pretzel Festival and is sponsored by the Germantown Lions. The Twisted Pretzel Tour is a Charity Event with all proceeds benefiting local food pantries and civic organizations. While last year we held our annual tour as a virtual ride only, we were still able to raise over $6,000 which was distributed to the local food banks and civic organizations!
